Cerita dari Lord of the Rings: Rise of War akan diadaptasi dari novel yang dibuat J.R.R. Tolkien. Beberapa karakter ikonik dalam Lord of the Rings akan muncul dalam game ini. Belum ada keterangan mengenai gameplay. Artinya Lord of the Rings: Rise of War mungkin masih dalam tahap awal pengembangan.
