Penampakan perdana Sonic The Hedgehog Movie menimbulkan banyak respon negatif dari fans dan netizen. Mereka menganggap karakter Sonic yang diperlihatkan tersebut visualisasinya melenceng dari aslinya. Beragam ungkapan tidak puas, olok-olok dan satir pun beredar.
Namun rekasi negatif ini tidak hanya ditujukkan oleh fans, bahkan beberapa mantan personel yang dulu pernah terlibat dalam pengembangan karakter landak legendaris ini pun angkat suara. Dikutip dari Game Informer, akun twitter @SonicJPNews telah mengumpulkan dan mengartikan cuitan mereka.
